Building Vantage Learning's course marketplace from scratch

Vantage Learning needed a multi-instructor course marketplace with payments and progress tracking built for launch in one semester. We designed and shipped it as a working MVP in 10 weeks.

The challenge

Vantage Learning's founder wanted to launch a course marketplace connecting independent instructors with learners, with a hard deadline tied to the start of the academic semester. The product needed instructor payouts, video hosting, quizzes, and progress tracking — all from a standing start.

What we built

We ran a compressed discovery and design sprint to lock the core instructor and learner flows, then built the platform on a multi-tenant Node.js/PostgreSQL backend with Stripe Connect for instructor payouts and a React front end optimized for video playback and quiz interactions on mobile.

The results

The platform launched on schedule with 40+ instructors onboarded and a course completion rate of 68% — well above the industry benchmark the founder had been quoted by other platforms. Vantage has continued iterating on the same codebase with our team on a monthly retainer since launch.
